This website is owned and operated by UnitType, a UK-based independent type foundry. When we refer to “we”, “our” or “us” in this policy, we mean UnitType. When we refer to “you” or “your”, we mean anyone using our website, services, or making a purchase. For the purposes of the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR, UnitType is the Data Controller of your personal information.
We collect personal information when you interact with our website and services. If you make a purchase through Shopify, we collect your name, email address, billing address, licensee name and company name. Payment details are processed securely by Shopify Payments, Stripe or PayPal, but are not stored by us. If you sign up for trial fonts or our newsletter through Brevo, we collect your email address for that purpose. We do not intentionally collect any sensitive personal information.
Your information is used to process and fulfil orders, to create and maintain licensing records, and to communicate with you about purchases or enquiries. If you have chosen to receive updates we also use your details to send newsletters and information about our work. We also retain data where it is necessary to meet legal and tax obligations. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
We only share your information with trusted service providers who enable us to run our services. Shopify powers our checkout and order processing. Brevo manages our email newsletters and trial font distribution. Payment providers such as Shopify Payments, PayPal and Stripe securely process transactions. These providers operate under their own privacy policies and comply with relevant data protection laws.
Order records are retained for as long as required by UK tax and accounting laws, which is usually seven years. Newsletter subscriptions are held until you choose to unsubscribe, at which point your details will be removed from our mailing lists.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to request access to the information we hold about you, to correct or update your details, and to ask for your information to be deleted where legally possible. You may also withdraw consent for receiving newsletters at any time.
